Dear Doctor - Participate in the Survey on lung cancer " A new survey has found that lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the United States. The survey, which was conducted by the American Cancer Society, found that lung cancer accounted for 27 percent of all cancer deaths in the US in 2014. This is higher than the next two most common causes of cancer death combined - breast cancer and colorectal cancer.Lung cancer is a particularly deadly form of cancer, with a five-year survival rate of just 18 percent. However, the ACS notes that there have been significant advances in treatment in recent years, and says that more people are surviving lung cancer than ever before. The ACS recommends that all adults aged 55 and over should get regular lung screenings, as well as those who are at high risk for lung cancer due to smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke.
