Survey on Viral Hepatitis

Viral Hepatitis is a group of infectious diseases that affect the liver and can lead to severe health complications if left untreated. It is caused by different viruses, including hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. Each type varies in transmission routes and severity of symptoms. Hepatitis A is typically contracted through contaminated food or water, while hepatitis B and C spread through contact with infected blood or body fluids such as during unprotected sex or sharing needles. Hepatitis D occurs only in individuals already infected with hepatitis B, whereas hepatitis E is usually transmitted through consuming contaminated water or undercooked meat. Symptoms may range from mild fatigue to jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), dark urine, abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, and loss of appetite. Although some people might remain asymptomatic for years after infection with viral hepatitis types B and C known as chronic infections - it can eventually cause cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver leading to organ failure or hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). Early diagnosis through blood tests allows for treatments aiming at suppressing virus replication successfully; however, vaccination remains the most effective prevention method against this global health concern
