Speciality: Pulmonary Medicine
Description:
A warm welcome to all the medical professionals in this interesting session on the role of omalizumab in severe allergic asthma.
Omalizumab is a monoclonal antibody used to treat severe allergic asthma. It targets and binds to immunoglobulin E (IgE), a key player in allergic reactions. By reducing the amount of free IgE, omalizumab helps prevent allergic triggers from activating immune cells that lead to asthma symptoms.
For people with severe asthma, omalizumab can significantly reduce the frequency of asthma attacks. It works by decreasing airway inflammation, helping improve lung function and control symptoms that don't respond well to traditional inhalers or medications.
This treatment is typically given by injection and prescribed for individuals whose asthma is driven by allergies. Many patients experience fewer symptoms and a lower need for corticosteroids, which can help reduce long-term side effects associated with other treatments.
Therefore, get an overall knowledge of the role of omalizumab in severe allergic asthma. Listen to the webinar, grab the shared knowledge, and follow Hidoc for more such interesting webinar sessions.
