Psoriasis is a skin condition, where itchy, scaly patches kind of rashes develop mostly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp. It is a common, long-term (chronic) disease with no potential cure. The condition can be painful and can interfere with activities like sleeping and concentrating.

Basically steroid creams or ointments (topical corticosteroids) are used to treat the disease condition. However, in special cases like pregnancy, care needs to be taken in prescribing the medicines.

Moreover, psoriasis is common dermatosis in children also, the majority of the psoriatic population develop the disease condition during their early phase of life. Hence, ensuring prevention and control during pediatric onset of psoriasis is considerably important.
