Amniotomy can help to reduce the risk of this complication by allowing the baby to pass meconium before delivery. Improving maternal and neonatal outcomes: Overall, amniotomy appears to be safe and effective, with positive outcomes for both mothers and babies.

The Risks of Amniotomy
